The Coggins Girls

Eight years ago I photographed 3 cute little girls in a tulip field. Being a photographer is such a joy that I get to follow familes.. Here are the girls this past summer..

Sweet Cala

This is a special image to me. She is a sweet little girl named Cala. I have photographed her family for 5 years now. She has a big brother named Ian and had an older sister that died of cancer at age 3, before she was even born. Her name was Lillian and I never had the opportunity to photograph her as she had passed before I met this amazing family. Cala was named because of her sister, Lillian, or Lily. I knew Cala was coming to the studio on this day, so I sent my employee to go buy a Lily. I placed this in the ivy so that it looked like it was planted there. I felt like representing her sister was important. Much Love to both girls...

mu little dolly

My sweet baby girl. I feel like she is a little doll and so I thought it would be fun to photograph her with some meaningful dolls. The doll on the left (the old one) was my Grandma's and the cabbage patch doll on the right was mine when I was a little girl, his name is conrad. Love my little Rosalyn..

Pretty scene for high school seniors...

This is a busy time of year with high school seniors! This is one of my favorite locations to photograph, the light is so beautiful in the afternoon and the background is so pretty....

Sweet baby Erik

I love photographing newborns, it is such a special time, the changing of lives, and the new beginnings and the love of a new one. John and Ahnyah are a couple that I photographed a few years back at their wedding, now with their little one, it is so fun to see how families grow and change....

a beautiful weeekend at the Lavender fields

What an unbelievable weekend! I photographed at the lavender fields this weekend and the most amazing part was that every photograph could be an oil painting. The light was sunny but provided beautiful back light romantic feel. This is one of my favorite images....

Beaverton Police K-9 unit

So yesterday 5 police officers came to the studio to be photographed with their dogs, he told me it would be tough because some of the dogs didn't get along and that it might be hard to pose everyone. In a matter of about 10 minutes, I had posed and taken the shots needed. He said "really we are done?"--surprised that it was all done so fast. Well it was a good thing because about a minute after that, they got a call and all had to go because there was a bad guy on the run... Ah but the funniest part was that my little studio was surrounded by 5 cop cars, people must have thought "what the heck is going on?" A little humor for the day!

"Read a good book lately? Have you ever thought what makes your favorite author such a great writer? Do you wonder what kind of pen they use? Of course not! Nor does a good camera "take good pictures". Although I recently upgraded to the newest, best camera on the market, it's still just a box that captures light, nothing else. People always ask about my lighting technique. Sure there are lots of technical things I can teach, but I feel that it still comes down to something personal. I think that with all artists, what's in your heart comes out in your work. I daydream about crazy ideas like a bride in a field of tulips, a couple in a waterfall, and babies in cute situations"

So thankful...

Today I photographed the Children's Cancer Assoication annual luncheon at the Mac club. There was an inspirational girl that had no arms past her elbows and no legs beyond her knees, yet she was a dancer. She was amazingly inspirational and when I took a photograph of her and her Mom, she commented that she liked my shoes. I cried the entire way home from the event.... It totally touched me and put my life into perspective.

today at the studio I tried out a new set on Reagan, she was not so sure about the teddy bears, we might have to try again when she is sitting up a little better...

Pooches on the green

This weekend I had a booth at a little dog event in Beaverton called Pooches on the green. People came with their dogs and their were booths with vendors that were dog related. I was there with my friend and employee Jenny (she does dog paintings). We laughed at all of the people that looked like their dogs. I think later this spring we are going to have a dog look a like contest. It would be a hoot!

PPO Convention

This last weekend I attended the PPO Convention here in Portland, Its always so inspiring to hear the speakers, see other photographers and be around all that creative energy! I came away with lots of new ideas for the studio and I also recieved my A.F.P award at the banquet!

Is there anything more precious and innocent than your child devouring birthday cake with delight, completely unfazed by the sticky mess in their hair, face and clothes? Bring your little one in for birthday pictures at the studio and we will capture all the joys and expressions that come along with "letting them eat cake" on their birthday!

Tonight I am enjoying dinner with some photography friends of mine..
